What I always find funny is how Goodman's hold up better on the coast than the so called "coastal units" like Carrier makes.

Swampfox

yeah its impressive how well they do, its all in how thick the fin material is I think.

getting rid of the dissimilar metals altogether is the best bet though, I install American Standard whenever possible, or their Ameristar economy line, as long as it has the spine-fin.

Just had some past customers in the office. Americans who built a place in 2000 here. Always had to refer to the job by their holding company name, I guess this is their retirement tax haven, and they funnelled cash away from the IRS to build the place.

They ended up using Ruud UAKA series condensing units. Happier than hell with the performance, the humidity levels. The units survived the hurricane, so the coil guard is a good thing in that aspect.

The husband religiously washes the coil, so minimal corrosion.

The casings are rotting out especially in one unit more exposed to the wind.

Makes a case for washing the coils. Wonder how much it costs to pay some one to wash a coil every two weeks as opposed to replacing a condenser every few years?

There was a guy here doing that, had "corrosion control team" on the side of the truck, but he sold ICP equipment, I chuckled at the irony

Lost the sale on the one I fingered, went by there today and saw a new Heil sitting there.

Agreed on the Holy Shit sentiment. Maybe they think it's like a couch out back, and use it for a goal when playing ball. And piss on it when they lose.

Wasnt that obvious until we started moving it around, but with this guys money, you would think he would have taken care of these before now.

An auto mechanic might enjoy a Harley or a Jaguar because they get to fix it a lot (it goes south a lot).

A HVAC person might like a Coleman if they have a lot of fun working on their system on weekends :lachen:

I'm sure to get on some Harley people's bad side with that, but oh well I like Yamasakizukis

Some of those Jap bikes try to be Harleys. I call them Hardly Davidsons.

lifes too short to brand bash or brand snob

I just don't have time I will drive what I want buy what Iwant shop at costco or wall mart or home cheapo or waht ever

I don't give a shiat about small loczl biz or local products cause they don't give a shiat about me or my money for the most part.

Local stuff - my mercruy dealer said ti would be 1 week for parts on order - pay in advance 4 weeks later I get my part.
domestic cars/trucks

theres two in my driveway 3 if you count the boat.

domestic cars suck in part because when you buy them new you loose 25% or more the day you drive them off the lot then there's all the expensive bs repairs

why local coffee houses have to charge more than arse butts I'll never know - as far as I'm concerned - I dodn
t care anymore

screw the loyalty - its a global market we have lost many jobs to mexico china and the USA - currently we export logs to the US = exported jobs.

no offense but I'm sure the US would scream and close the border if it was the other way around.

thus my loyalty is lost - I don't care anymore I will take care of myself and my family and do whats best for my pocket book

rant off

The US exports logs to Japan too. Equals lost jobs here too.

Canadians are responsible for the frozen cow dung on Idaho roads that made a big traffic hazard. In Winter, the cow pies were ice. And if the people in Idaho are telling the truth, it was all the fault of Canadian truckers:lol:

Dang that is one rotten looking coil, what did that sea water? Glad we don't deal with that much here unless it's down by Galveston or Port Aransas.. I have only seen that once it was due to sea spray from Gulf.

Doogy rot , I see alot here ,when they use the condenser for water hydroent...

my office AC gets overwhelmed with 4 of us. Going to add a second stage, looks inexpensive and corrosion resistant. Export model not for sale in US
