It dwarfs the 3 ton gaspack:biggrin:

I was outside working .I don't like the way that pan looks .it was 130f up there.drain is o.k. aux.drain and a float switch.
U.v. light and a 4 in. filter.and a filter in the ceiling .
look alright except for the crate under the pan?
No plenum on that return....flex right up to the filter?

Well, I don't normally comment on others work, but since you asked, hope you don't think this is too critical............
1) I don't like the flex to the filter box, should have at least a short plenum on it to allow the air to spread out and slow down a little.
2) I don't like the line trap installed at such a high angle, and with the vent between it and the drain outlet........trap is not going to do anything.
3) Pan should be on a platform and the unit set on vibration pads and raised up a bit. If drains back up unit will sit in water and rust out.
4) I don't see a gas cock and the drip leg is blocking the filter access door?
Outdoors looks good though, did you run the lines up in that downspout behind the unit? That's a nice touch. I don't think I've ever seen a gas furncae installed upflow in a resi attic before, why not suspend it horizontal on trapzees from the rafters or on a platform, just curious, is that how you guys do them all where you are?

Wish I worked for you when I was a young apprentice doing installs in attics.
My bosses attitude was, "I don't care how hot it is, it better be right or you knuckleheads can go back and fix it on Saturday on your own time!":pain:
And, believe me, I did work a few free saturdays fixing stuff he didn't like.............and the kids wonder why I'm such a hardass.:tard:

My point is .... when it got to 130......... I'd be long ass gone.
Ive spent half my life in attics at 130........I'm done.
If I have to do it, I plan accordingly.

I'm not about to be critical..........
Looks pretty good...
Ahem...............
Your defense is that you where outside? lol..............
Ya very seldom see a up flow in an attic around here, good for you......
You brought it to our attention..........
WTF is that jammed under the drain pan? The box the stuff came in?
Oh young grasshopper..............
I know, you were outside..........lol:joy::joy::joy::joy:

The gas cock has to be hidden behind those 2 X 6's. You can see the union, so it must be upstream from it.

I was'nt about to go changing my helpers stuff that late. But yea I said something about the dripleg and he pulled the door and the filter still came out.
not the best drain either. I would 90 over tee down into a p-trap instead of a shallow trap.and the old crate .yea that looks bad.I ALWAYS put a p-trap insteead of run trap if possible.
It would look different if I was working up there. He got it done. Not exactly how I would have but not worth changing
the r.a. flex was already like that so thats how it stayed.
seriously I was piping and electrical on the condenser. Helper worked upstairs. he was 1 hour late that day and that did'nt improve my chances of helping much up there:biggrin:

dudes worth having he's good. I don't know many I would trust to manhandle this furnace up the pulldown with a flatscreen on the wall beside it.

comment all you want .can only help me .
might learn something new.theres a good chance I know about it but it did'nt get done that way for one reason or another
stand units up in attics whenever we can . It's common

like on that second one. the pan should be raised. and I should have a clean out tee at the top of that trap. copper could look straighter

call back here water in pan .first thing I did was slant that stupid drain down. float switch caught it and aux. line off pan..clogged underneath house flushed with water and pressure.I like to see them pissing what I call it its nasty slang anyway before I leave.!
I know he flushed it with co2 gallo gun ,but I think it just clogged it into a lump. I already mentioned for us to gallo gun flush and cleaner or water.'
from now on. tightened up that pan too while I was there
and sold a maintenance agreement..yea boy
I knew kinda what the call might be about. I broke 24V in the float to t-Stat. t-stat coming on and off at unexplained times.

I have started to not pipe secondary drains and I teach my guys that now too. I put a hockey puck float switch that shuts the unit down if there is any water in the pan. If there is water in the pan, the unit needs service.Since we started doing that we have not had 1 pan overflow.
Put a square to round on that return

My 2 cents
If all people get is nit picking when they post their work, people wont post
if you have a specific question or suggestion, that is fine
if your just going to bash, you shouldnt post
