Compressor life span

    What's the typical life span of a Carrier compressor?
    Not the new stuff, but the older 70's-80 old freon compressors.

    Or are you talking about the bluegreen Mitey Mites?

    In that case the ones you're looking at are living on borrowed time better replace them before they get caught in the hot summer without cooling


    Anyway the heat exchangers are probably shot

    There are still some old R-500 compressors running at one facility we work at....The compression ratio is so low on those things that if you don't have any leaks they seem to run forever almost.....

    I still have some R 500, not much though it was good replacement for 12 in cars, made the air real cold, and it worked good
