    Old loop shot and leaking.

new loop was hand made! i couldn't make nice tight loops...but it'll do.

anyone have good tips on making a better looking loop in the future?

I use to love doing those. I got really good at it. I had all kinds of small special tube benders for them. I still have a few. I bet I could make one right now look better than factory done.

Get a custom made loop bending jig or just do what you did, looks good.

The trick is not to bend it to the final product... bend it up into sort of a cone shape then mash it down and it will be tight. Made that sound easy I know.

Here is a stupid question, what the heck do you do that for? Is it for evaporation purposes or what. I've seen heated drain pans before but not that.

Yep we see a lot of them. I just put in a heated drain pan if there's room for one.

So is the coiled copper the actual drain or is it like the hot gas line?

Hot gas to heat up the water. Its main purpose is to give the copper a place to rub together and leak...

if it makes you guys feel any better, in ice rinks they make snow melt coils out of steel. In a few years when you go to find the leak with compressed air, it looks like a diving school is in there....

As far as the copper, fill it with sand before trying to bender it, it will help you keep it from kinking. Then, tie wrap it to 2" pipe in a 300 machine and hit the go button. watch it wrap around it real nice like, lol. Then just slowly work it open to a coil you like. This will only take a day or so to complete.
