i am one paranoid dude when it comes to touching anything with juice in it.

even though they are plastic, is it okay (advisable) to use fuse pullers on a fuse with power voltage present?

i know the answer is probably yes, but damn, what about high humidity and/or sweaty hands?

i saw a pair the other day and almost bought them.

ps - i'm paranoid cuz i've been shocked about 10 times

Not advisable especially for someone who has been shocked and may be a little jumpy. De-energize the circuit.

That would take too long and require climbing back off the roof and then locating the main box.:mrbill:

    that's my impression.

they look plastic and cheap and it makes me wonder if some facking chinese factory makes them and integrates trace amount of iron and silver into the plastic so i get shocked from "intermittently conductive plastic"?

    :D

I honestly don't know man... but I wouldnt trust them in your case, I dont even have them anymore. I broke a set one time pulling a fuse and I was done with them... when it breaks, that fuse is going somewhere, and it could be a bad place.

Get yourself some high voltage gloves, maybe that would make you feel better about the stuff huh?

The answer is HELL NO! Unless the fuse pullers you are talking about are the osha approved type rated for working on live lines up to 1000 volts. The little plastic one will get you killed sooner or later.

You should be using them anyway. I have a set for suspicious/hairy looking panels. They are also nice for changeing 460volt breakers in live panels.

Anything over 100 amps or 460 volts, same here. But I'd rather give me the hours, than some wirenut jockey.........let 'em go find their own work.
