That smell always reminded me pheasant season was about to open

And the fireman thing reminded me on one time I was going to smoke some ducks for dinner, I woke up about 6 am got the smoker fired up and smoking up a storm, I was on the back patio when I heard a fire truck sirens going off, I looked around and didn't see any smoke, as it got to my place it was slowing down and I thought oh shit.

One of the firemen jumped out of the truck, tried to jump up on the privacy fence and slipped off, the second time he got his head above the pickets, then fell down again, and yelled it just somebody starting the grille.

I asked am I in trouble, through the fence he said no but you had better get to the front door, so i ran to open it, just in time a fireman had his ax over his shoulder ready to whack it down

On a lighter note, don't smoke duck, it sucks with gusto

Which Brings us to a very important question...other than Beer or a loved one, what would choose to save encase of a Fire? Me? Any prized vehicle in a attached garage,or nearby.

Just as long as everybody gets out, I wouldn't risk going back in, that shit can always be replaced

my garage is detached and about 100 foot away. I would take my dogs out first and then come open my safe for my most precious treasures, not money but the things from my kids growing up. I can make more money but cannot replace my kids birthday memories.

Had a 70 LeMans Sport. Bucket seats, Automatic on the floor,350 4 Barrel. It was a gas guzzling rust bucket by the time I got it,but it was a fun ride, and I paid for it in tickets!
