Does it have a SD slot? Why keep it on the tablet?

It has a hi speed USB and a micro USB no sd slot. Well I could get rid of my library of books keep them in the shop and have it all on the tablet.

Ditto. I'm making the move to paperless before next cooling season. Starting with a tablet. Designing my forms now with flat rate linked in the background. Fun winter project.

Question, is it possible to use, say, a Ipad or a rooted nook or a droid based tablet as word processor or spread sheet if you use the google apps like document on line? You now what I'm saying. Since there ain't no hard drive on a tablet.
Then again, are there apps that will allow you to be more business like on a tablet then transfer to a SD card and print and stuff?

you should be able to any of that, also, tablets have ssd drives, typically 8 to 32 GB

I got the Acer Iconia tablet partly on Dowadudda advice. Great unit and does everything I wanted. Already have a ton of manuals and charts loaded.

I looked at the Kindle Fire but never heard any first hand reviews on it, how can they do it so cheap?

Do any of you guys use 3g to look up an IOM while on the job? I bought an iPad last week for the tune of $780.00. It has 3G through AT&T. I put quite a bit of PDF's on it and it is great for that. Some of the wiring diagrams are hard to view and nothing beats a pen and paper for tracing some of them wires..

I think it is going back this week tho. For that amount of money the internet just is not there yet. There is a lot of sites that don't support its web browser. On a positive note the iPad had pay as you go internet and the GPS to locate it if it were stolen..

I will wait it out for another year or 2 for the technology to get there. In the mean time I am going to download an application for my iPhone to tether my laptop. Ill bring that with me to work if I need a manual.

Im curious to see how many guys are using tablets in their work vans..

I use my HTC Sensation smart phone to download manuals when I need one. Works just fine. Android for the win.
