and no, i don't mean the suicidal guy standing on the edge of the overpass!

i mean those things that we use to jump circuits for troubleshooting.

the older i get, the larger my jumper collection gets.

as a matter of fact, from time to time, i will sit down at home on the weekend and customer manufacturer different types of jumpers.

i've got regular jumpers with alligator clips, female spade terminal jumpers, male spade terminal jumpers, jumpers with a fine point needle on each end (for those pesky wiring harnesses in control circuits).

i've even got the new "magjumper" (thing is pretty handy) as well as that magnetic one for door switches.

i'm always on the lookout for new and improved jumpers!!!

    any ideas?

at one point (years ago), i was going to customer manufacturer a switchable jumper,

that would allow me to plug it in (fused of course, :D) and jump any 120 or 24 volt load.

    never got around to it.

Wow! We'll have to call you the Jumper King!!!

I just carry a few alligator jumpers. Any time I need anything else I make something up on the spot.

yeah, magjumper is the freaking greatest.

got one a couple months ago!

chuck, i'm like you, i make them on the spot, but then i go home and perfect them, and keep them all in a little tupperware container at the bottom of my toolbag!

Probably the most innovative "fused jumper" I have seen was one used by a untrained drugged up back yard tech in an underground appliance business.

This guy would take a piece of twisted wire from an extension cord or something like it and remove one strand of wire.

I saw him use it as a voltage tester one day.

I took a couple of the alligator jumpers,
cut both of them in the middle,
stripped the inso back about 1/2".
    wire nutted them together.

makes it handy to jumper multiple things at once- like R-Y-O-G.

I figure if I buy something nice like the magjumper I'd most likely lose it shortly after I bought it.

    Hello......

    I'm Steve and I'm a jumper junkie.....

Good or bad, I was taught, when in doubt, "jump it out"

I'm also big on making various cheater cords {widow makers}......

Fellas are trying to get me to make them all the time....no can do......talk about liabilty..bejeeze.......

I've always viewed them as learning tools........

    :)

I carry 4 colored jumpers and I always know where they are.
Spade jumpers, male/female, male/male. female/female I make as needed and then they get cut and customized as time goes by then tossed out when they get in my way or get too many of them.

another one i do, is carry two pins (you know, the kind with the little ball on the end) and i can jam them down into a connector and then clip onto them with my alligator clips.

I use a small box with a toggle switch that way I can turn it on and off much easier.
A plastic conduit pull box works well if you cap the other end and seal the side where the wires come through.
That way you can get a good connection and then jump it instead of studering the unit on
    And off.
