So today I was at yet another meaningless meeting with a client who knows too little. Actually it was an engineer representing the client. The dilemma...an outpatient surgical center with temperature control and huidity control issues, by others. They went in last week and documented voltage, current, rated kw of the electric duct coils. they also logged temp on/off coils. they didnt know how to convert these numbers, so they cried that some had a ten degree rise, others fifty. See where this is headed? So, I broke open my new phone and found the calculator. I then wrote down the formulas for kw wit hthree phase power, and also btuh/'airflow formula. We started doing the math, transposing numbers, and came up with theoretical KW, and also what temp rise would be based upon diffuser values for each along with theoretical kw.

Once we got through, the engineer "realized" he had an equipment schedule in his computer. We were within one half kw on each. So, we started to discuss the fact that those with high delta tees didnt have enough air across them, and vice versa for those with low delta tees. long story short, air balance problems, go figure right?

They then went on to tell me that they ixed airflow already, as they found the minimum airlow on the unit set to sixteen percent, but lowered it to ten per specs. When I started to discuss how dampers are not linear with regard to position vs actual air, they glazed over.

With regard to humdiity control, they have three big electric steam jobs, fifty kw ish. They are only controlling thme with a space rh sensor and a duct high limit manual trip. Guess what happens with them? first one we looked at had a full alarm history of high limit trips. I guess so since space rh is low and when you reset it it goes to 100%. you need to control duct rh too in order to keep it online.

They didnt fully comprehend it, so we wrote down my verbage, and they are sending it to another engineer for review.....and they actually pay me for this sheet. I would almost od it for free just to see the looks on their stupid faces.
