A particular client with an older building has baseboard heat on the perimeter, turned on/off by a simple outdoor stat. Waaay back in november, they wanted the heat to come on anytime it is below 60 degrees out, due to a few cold, rainy days, and rooms full of whiny women. I explained ot them the problem that would cause on a 60 degree sunny day, but they didnt care. Fast forward to today. 61 degrees and sunny. I get an email asking what I was going to do about the overheating. I forwarded them the email explanation of november, and told them I would follow company motto three, which for those uninformed about my business is as follows...."act like you care and do nothing". In other words, I am not sending someone out. They now want to have a meeting to discuss how to fix this problem instead of back when we first told them about it after taking the building over. Kinda follows motto one...."I cant make you do it, I can only make you wish that you had". this business is fugged up.
you should see some of the messages i send these days due to that stupid spelling correction it does. cant wait to figure out how to turn tha fugger off.
They have both an outdoor stat, and a manual switch. The switch is located almost fifteen feet away from the woman who runs the building, but it scares her...(it is a toggle switch in a box). I tried gettting thme to let me add automation, high efficiency boilers with reset and so forth. They are quite happy with their existing cast iron boilers and barrage of circ pumps from the seventies. I have asked for another meeting to try some other techniques to sell them upgrades, but apparently she doesnt drink, so that wont work.....
