Ima gonna make swag that the tongs are not leveraged like the other seamer.

I bet those tongs were around in the days of old when men were bold and the women were proud of it. Then some mechanical engineer came up with the compound lever so the rest of us wimps could mash tin with the real men.

The tongs only have one fulcrum point.

Seamer - with the extra fulcrum point, you can crimp a seam.

Tong - just for grabbing a bending. you got to have a death grip to make a good seam.

The tongs were used for lap solder joints, mostly roofers, but they don't do that anymore, so the will probably go by the way like pattern snips

Damn I would love to find a good pair of Wiss W17 snips 16-18 inches long
