    First time for everything.....

I had to trouble shoot an X13 this morning. It was installed in a Frigidaire unit.

The motor would run real slow, never ramp up to full speed.

I had 220 vlts at the motor

(Besides ground) there was a 24vlt common, and there was a wire on terminal3 and terminal4. Nearest I could tell, when in cooling, there should be 24vlts present on terminal3. And in the heat mode there should be 24vlts on terminal4.

Well I had the 24vlts on terminal3 in cool, and in heat 24vlts on terminal 4.

So I guess the motor must be bad??????

If there is something else I should check let me know please

I have the info from GE. but it is a bit vauge on the X13.

Also the wiring diagram on the unit was really difficult to read, kinda blury.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks Swampfox

There isn't a whole lot of us hillbillys that can afford the fancy units with the fancy motors in them. So I don't get to trouble shoot them very often.

Does this motor have the module on it?

I've never seen a VS motor go bad, just the module.

    FWIW......

electronics are integral on the X13

Mike, we had ones with one speed bad. If ya need to limp them along until you can change it it may work.

So is the 1,2,3,4,5 the speed selections?

I tried running it in heat but the motor still turned really slow

Yes those are the speeds but trying the heat speed and it being slow says yer probably screwed

I'll make a note of that for the next time:thumb:

I kinda figured that 4 was cooling speed and 5 was heat speed. I wasn't sure what the others were.

I thought if the blower would run on heat I might just do a little rewiring to make the blower run on cool .

Since I don't have much experience with these things I didn't want to push my luck ......(and make sure the motor was burned up)

    Thanks

Dang, The manufacturers have us where they want us.......

I was told there are a couple new versions of ecm motors. The wires in the 16 pin connector have been rearranged.....

06 is when they went into widespread use

I think the ones we have replaced this year have been 06's also

motor on top or bottom? I think they have all been on the bottom also, probably moisture issues taking them out
